Certificate in Animal Science and Fisheries and Aquaculture

In response to the increasing demand for affordable livestock and fish products, Faculty of Agriculture, introduces two specialized 6-month Certificate programs in

1. Animal Science

2. Fisheries and Aquaculture Management.

Each of these programs is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge techniques of producing livestock and fish products at very cheap price so as to make it affordable to consumers while maximizing profit for the producers.

Program Features:

Duration:  The Certificate in both Animal Science and Fisheries and Aquaculture will last for 6-month.
Curriculum: The curriculum for each of the programs covers other areas of livestock and fish breeding/production in addition to Black Soldier fly larvae production, Azolla farming and mushroom production as additives for least cost livestock and fish feed production. All courses are Practical Oriented.

Program Objectives:

Each of the Certificate program aims to achieve the following objectives:
i. Provide participants with a practical training in livestock/fish production, especially least cost livestock and fish  feed production methodologies.
ii. Develop skills in commercial scale of production and feasibility studies.
iii. Equip participants with hands on training on each of the chosen field of study

Delivery Method:

The program intends to utilize a blend of theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises and practical demonstration of uses. Experienced instructors with expertise in livestock and fish farming will guide participants through the intricacies of the aforementioned fields.

Career Opportunities:

Upon successful completion of the Certificate in Animal Science, the participants can explore roles such as:
– Livestock farm managers
– Livestock and fish feed production
– Fish farm managers
– Become Entrepreneurs (Owners of Livestock and Fish Farms)
– Trainers of other livestock and fish farmers

Admission Requirements:

Prospective participants are expected to meet the following criteria:
Attempted WAEC/ GCE/ NECO

After successfully paying of the application fee, the candidate can then progress to filling in their application forms online and submit the same online.

After submission of the form, the candidate is to print out a copy and visit the Faculty Coordinator of Certificate program for documentation or send the completed form via email to the Official email address of the coordinator [email protected]
