The event was a noble one which showcased innovative exhibitions by various departments of the faculty of Agriculture Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. It was spectacular, filled with glamor and graced by his HRH, Igwe Ogidiga of Ifite Ogwari
The Igwe of Ifite – Ogwari, HRH Igwe Ogidiga, Eze Omasiri of Ifite Ogwari came in style with his entourage.
The Dean prof Cordelia Ifeyinwa Ebenebe in her opening speech at a faculty banquet welcome all and sundry from all walks of life who had come to honour the faculty’s maiden
banquet. The dean started by commending the efforts of the visionary vice-chancellor professor Esimone Charles Okechukwu who led the faculty to the Promised Land. The Dean of The Faculty stated that the faculty is now winning take off flight to a Greater height where she would be ranked among the best 10 faculties of Agriculture in Nigeria and the world at large. Professor C. I. Ebenebe emphasized that with full support the faculty of Agriculture of Unizik will become self-sustaining like some faculties Agriculture in Nigeria and Africa. Along the same vein Prof. Ebenebe emphasized on the need for student hostel and staff living quarters at Ifite Ogwari.
Sen. Tony Nwoye who was in attendance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Faculty of Agriculture Exquisite Banquet and Exhibition; promised to work together with Sen Victor Umeh in bringing government’s interventions towards installation and establishment of building facilities for the Faculty of Agriculture in Ifite Ogwari.
His Royal Highness Igwe Ogidiga – Eze Omasiri of Ifite Ogwari while acknowledging the great achievements by the VC and the efforts of the dean of the faculty, promised to continue to be of great support to the faculty of Agriculture Unizik and the University as a whole. in his words HRH Igwe Ogidiga said, “I assure you not to worry as I personally have very big plans in terms of the issue of accommodation… don’t shake at all”.
To spice up the event, the VC honored the highest cited staff of the faculty on google scholar…of which the awardees include,
Dr. Helen Obioma Agu, (!st)
Prof. J. C. Okonkwo (2nd) and
Prof. C. I. Ebenebe (3rd)
Also at the event, first class category of students were honored.
